Customer
Roantree is a promotional merchandise provider based in Marlow, Buckinghamshire. Since 2001, they have been supplying a wide range of personalised promotional materials to clients across the globe. Following a chance meeting at a local business fair, we agreed to collaborate on the project below.
Challenge
One product in Roantree’s portfolio with a particularly global reach is promotional luggage tags. These tags need to be personalised, easy to attach to a bag or suitcase handle, and durable enough to withstand the rigours of international travel. This type of travel presents the toughest test, as tags must be especially strong to avoid breakages in transit. Roantree asked us to provide a solution that would enhance durability while remaining personalised, user-friendly and within budget.
Solution
After a collaborative review, we proposed a printed CR80 plastic card with a 5mm hole punch. The print elements provided the required branding, while signature panels on the reverse allowed users to add their name and preferred contact details, essential for identifying luggage on coach trips or busy baggage carousels.
Choosing the 5mm hole punch instead of a 13mm slot punch preserved more of the card’s material, reducing waste, increasing the printable surface and crucially maintaining the card’s strength. To further reinforce the tag at its most vulnerable point, we inserted a brass eyelet into the 5mm hole. Finally, we selected a 23cm metal ball chain, making the tag easy to attach to large luggage handles and flexible enough to move freely in transit, reducing stress on the chain.
“CCSI listened to our needs, proposing viable options that reduced product damages while delivering the project on time and within budget.” - Sales Director, Roantree
Result
The solution delivered fewer damages, less waste and greater visibility. The tags remained intact, showcasing their promotional prints across more miles and on many more trips, both locally and abroad.
